The race was broadcasted on the adidas running YouTube channel and Twitter, where viewers were given the opportunity to watch the action and records fall live.
Athletes competing wore the latest iterations of the ADIZERO COLLECTION, designed for speed, the ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 2, and the latest unreleased silhouette, the ADIZERO TAKUMI SEN 8, specifically designed and built for shorter-middle distance speed
The entire ADIZERO COLLECTION has been developed using meticulous insights and data from some of the world’s fastest athletes, combining mechanical, biomechanical, and physiological data to inform existing and upcoming adidas racing shoes.
ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 2
The ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 2 features two-layers of re-sculpted LIGHTSTRIKE PRO midsole – a revamped construction to support with energy return. Signature carbon-infused ENERGYRODS – now visible within the newly sculpted midsole deliver lightweight stiffness. The carbon-infused ENERGYROODS are also designed for a more anatomical driven transition, limiting energy loss. The re-engineered midsole combines with an ultra-lightweight, partially recycled polyester, CELERMESH 2.0 upper, which has been optimized for speed with flexibility, breathability and support based on athlete data. In addition, a CONTINENTAL™ RUBBER OUTSOLE has been added to the toe tip to create a traction zone which support faster acceleration. A new lightweight heel construction keeps the foot tightly locked in through anti slip lockdown, whilst softening the heel structure for increased comfort.
ADIZERO TAKUMI SEN 8
The ADIZERO TAKUMI SEN 8, is the latest addition to the revamped ADIZERO COLLECTION. It combines the core components of the ADIOS PRO 2, tuned specifically for 5km and 10km race day distances. Layers of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO combine with a premium outsole, consisting of a CONTINENTAL™ rubber toe tip and a super lightweight rubber textile designed to maximize traction, and an updated heel plate to help increase comfort during transition.
Glass fiber ENERGYRODS, now with a re-tuned geometry, sit between the layers of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO, providing a snappier transition than the PRO 2, and a softer set-up for middle distance races. In addition, the outsole combines CONTINENTAL™ RUBBER with super lightweight rubber textile for a perfect combination of traction and lightweight.
The adidas ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 2 is available at adidas.com, the adidas app and via select retail partners. The ADIZERO TAKUMI SEN 8 will be available worldwide from December 1, 2021.
